The Kibbutz Artzi Choir was founded in 1958 and established a reputation as one of the finest choirs in Israel. Its male and female singers are kibbutz members from across the country—as well as singers from other locations—who gather weekly for intensive rehearsals.

The choir performs numerous concerts in Israel and abroad. Its diverse repertoire includes a cappella pieces (or piano-accompanied works) and orchestral music. Alongside classical works by Bach, Mozart, Brahms, and many others, the choir performs songs and pieces from various styles of light music—jazz, pop, Gypsy music, and more.

The choir performs with Israel’s leading orchestras under the batons of top-tier conductors—including James Levine, Zubin Mehta, and others—and appears frequently at the Abu Gosh Festival. At the same time, it makes a point of performing for residents of the periphery in the north and south of Israel.

The Kibbutz Artzi Choir’s extensive international tours include performances and recordings in the United States, Europe (Germany, France, Italy, Poland, Hungary, Sweden, Austria, the Netherlands, and more), and the Far East.

In November 2009, the choir returned from a tour of 12 concerts in Korea and Japan.

In July 2012, the choir represented Israel at an international competition held in Beijing, winning a silver medal. During this visit to Beijing, the choir performed in a concert celebrating the opening of a new wing—the Wing for the Study of Jewish Culture and Economy—at the Beijing University of International Business and Economics. The choir also participated in joint concerts with local and visiting choirs, and performed as a guest of the Christian organization Friends of Israel – ICIA (Israel China Interflow Association).

In June 2016, the choir participated in the international Festival Coro de Verão in Lisbon, Portugal, winning a silver medal. Additionally, the choir performed in three concerts across Portugal—in Lisbon, Lagos, and Castelo de Vide.

In recent years, the choir has frequently performed works by Greek composer Mikis Theodorakis, even putting on a special concert dedicated to his music, hosted by Yaron Enosh.

Many musicians have conducted the choir over the years—including Dan Fogel, Aharon Harlap, and Yuval Ben-Ozer, who served as the choir's conductor and musical director between 1990 and 2025.

In 2026, the conductor's baton was passed to conductor and opera singer Yair Polishook.

Zhanna Kopylev has been the choir’s pianist since 2001.

The choir was previously managed by the late Moshe Harel of Kibbutz Bar'am (1981–2013), Yitzhak Ben Uzi (2013–2019), and Iris Ganor (2019–2023).

The current manager of the choir is Ehud Tahnai of Kibbutz Ma'abarot.
